2. Is Cricinfo Genie simulation exactly like live TV broadcast?
  1. Cricinfo Genie simulates action as it happens on the field in an animated format and is not a video feed as on TV. Also, there will be a delay of around 3-4 balls compared to live broadcast.

  1. You must have a phone capable of running Java mobile applications and using an Internet connection; most phones made since 2001 fulfill these requirements.   1. The Australia v India and Commonwealth Bank Series Special package would include every match of the series. Besides live simulated action you will get all other related information such as highlights, scorecards, results, news, schedules and statistics. The subscription would be valid till March 7, 2008.

8. Can I continue to use the Genie after the series?
  1. Our future plans will be announced on this site at appropriate time. Please come back later to check such announcements. You can continue to use Genie even after the series without having to go through the process on downloading and installing the application. However, as this service is made available on subscription basis, you will have to renew your subscription for future matches and tournaments.

9. Do I have to download Genie again when I go for a new subscription?
  1. No, you can continue to use the same version of Genie that you’ve downloaded and renew your subscription that will allow you to watch future matches and tournaments. However, if there are any updates to Genie you may have to download it again, which in any case is free.

10.Will my subscription be valid if I change my Handset?
  1. No. The subscription will not carried to your new handsets and you will have to purchase the subscription again for the new handsets. PLEASE DELETE the Genie from your old handset and download a fresh copy of Genie into your new handset. This is to prevent misuse of your subscription.

11. Does Cricinfo Genie work for my Palm device?

12. Are there any settings I have to make to run Cricinfo Genie on my Palm handset?
  1. Please ensure you have Java VM installed on your phone. On your phone, under Preferences select Java VM listed (mostly IBM Java VM) and set the option “Use high resolution coordinates” to on. Now, run Cricinfo Genie is high-resolution mode.

Using Genie
1. How do I launch Genie on my phone after downloading it?
  1. Genie will usually be saved under the Applications folder or in a folder of your choice on some phones. Go to the location where it has been saved; select the Genie option on the menu to launch it.

2. It asks me if I should allow Cricinfo Genie to use the network and to send or receive data. What should I do?
  1. Press the soft key marked 'Yes' to allow Genie to send and receive the data. As Cricinfo Genie is a connected application and uses GPRS to fetch data, it should be allowed to use the network and exchange data. Genie ensures that it doesn't transmit or exchange any sensitive information.

3. How can I see the list of live matches?
  1. Once you launch Genie, you will be forwarded to a menu where you can see list of live matches across the globe. Select one to start viewing the simulation of that match. Else press the key marked with an arrow to go to main menu.
    In case, there are no live matches, you are taken directly to the main menu.

4. I missed some of the action at the beginning. Can I see the highlights?
  1. During a live match, press the key marked with an arrow (when visible) to navigate to the match menu. Then select 'Highlights' from the menu to view all key events in the innings such as 4s, 6s and wicket dismissals.

5. How can I see the scorecard of a live match?
  1. During a live match, press the soft key marked with an arrow (when visible) to navigate to the match menu. Now, select Scorecard from the menu and subsequently the innings to see the full scorecard.

6. What is the 'Play as you Watch' feature?
  1. The 'Play as you Watch' feature in Genie puts you right in the middle of the action, not as a passive spectator but as the batsman! After every ball, you get into the batsman's shoes and face the bowler. Can you score better than the actual batsman?

7. How can I access and use this feature?
  1. While watching a live match, after a ball has been bowled, press the '*' key to get into the 'Play mode'. Once in this mode, the bowler will bowl the same ball, you can play various shots by using the 2, 4, 6 and 8 keys. Press '0' to play the ball again. Or, press '*' key to switch back to 'Live action'.

8. How can I access the other features of Genie?
  1. To use one of the many features of Genie go the main menu. Here, scroll to any of these - Live Matches, Results, Schedules, Statistics, News, Help and About, and then press the 'Select' button to access that section.

Troubleshooting

1. Once I've launched Genie it asks me about access point. What should I do?
  1. Please select the appropriate one when prompted by Genie to select an access point. This should be the same one you use for your Internet browsing. In case, you do not have any settings, please follow the instructions in the Step 1 in the Genie Home page.

2. It keeps asking me that should I allow Cricinfo Genie to use network and send or receive data. Is there any way I can turn it off?
  1. Nokia phones:
    • Please navigate to 'Menu > Manager/Application Manager'
    • Choose Cricinfo Genie from the list
    • Now press Left soft key to view the Options menu for the application.
    • Select 'Settings' from the Option menu.
    • Now change 'Network access' settings from 'Ask every time' to 'Ask first time'.
    • Launch Genie. Now you would not be prompted about connection, again and again.

  2. Sony Ericsson phones:
    • Go to the Games/Application section wherever Cricinfo Genie you have installed
    • Choose Cricinfo Genie and click on "More"
    • Go to Permissions > Internet Access
    • Set the permission to "Ask Once"
    • Launch Genie now

    Similarly, some others phones also allow you set this option like above. Or, some phones prompt you this option when you start Genie, select option to ask only once. If you are unsure, please refer to your handset manual.

3. I am able to browse the internet and WAP sites on my phone but I get a 'Connection Failed! Try again later.' error when I try to use Genie. What should I do?
  1. Some handsets require you to make an additional configuration over and above having the right Internet settings. While some Nokia phones require you to activate the settings as default in all applications, some SonyEricsson phones require you to set these options under "Settings for Java" and similarly for handsets from other manufacturers. Please refer to your phone manual for specific details.

4. I was able to access Genie earlier, but I keep getting a 'Connection Failed! Try again later." message when I try now. What should I do?
  1. You could get such error message when the application is not able to connect to data server. You may be in a weak signal area or there could be temporary network congestion. Please try after some time. If this problem persists, your Internet settings or Java settings may have changed. In case you are unsure, please send a mail to to support@dhruva.com

  1. It could be that the feature you are trying to access may not have the latest data from the server, please try after sometime

  1. It could be that there was a problem while retrieving the data from the server for the feature you are trying to access, please try again or after sometime.

7. I get an 'Application Error! Please restart Genie.' error when I try to launch Genie. What should I do?
  1. It could be that there was an error in initializing Genie. Restarting Genie should fix this problem. However, if this problem does persist please send a mail to support@dhruva.com.

  1. It could be that there was an error in registering your session on the server. Restarting Genie should fix this problem. However, if this problem does persist please send a mail to support@dhruva.com.

9. I get "Failed to Connect!" error on my Nokia 3220 or 6020 or 6021 when I open the application. What should I do?
  1. Nokia 3220, 6020, 6021 phones have a peculiar problem with the Access point settings. Please close the application and follow these instructions:

  2. 1. Order the GPRS internet settings from your cellular provider so that you receive them in OTA configuration messages. Save the configuration settings. The phone will ask if you want to make them default settings, answer yes. Ignore this step if you already have the settings.

    2. Go to menu "Settings" -> "Configuration settings" -> "Default configuration settings" and select the GPRS internet access point for your provider by highlighting it. Select "Set as default" from the "Options" menu. Now the settings should be default for sure.

    3. Go to menu "Settings" -> "Configuration settings" -> "Activate default in all applications" and select "Yes". Now the internet profile that you set in the previous step, is made sure was default is in all applications.

    4. Go to menu "Settings" -> "Configuration settings" -> "Preferred access point", and select the GPRS internet access point for your provider. NOTE! Even though there would only be one entry in this list, make sure you really select it using the "Select" middle menu button.

    5. Please start the application

10. I get the error “Subscription failed! Subscription id already in use”, what do I do?
  1. When you start Cricinfo Genie it checks the validity of your subscription and if it’s invalid, you are prompted to enter the Subscription id. The Subscription id you enter is already used before by you, you get this message. Please note, you can register with the a Subscription id ONLY ONCE.

11. I get the error “Subscription failed! Please try later”, what do I do?
  1. You will get this error if you are entering a wrong Subscription id or you do not have a subscription id. Please enter the correct Subscription id or obtain one when you make payment. Go to ‘Buy Now’ on the Genie Home.

    Occasionally, you may get this error if our records hasn’t been updated yet with your Subscription id.
